13a – Umahro Cadogan on using functional nutrition to create health

A Denmark native, Umahro Cadogan is a former adjunct professor of Nutrition and Functional Medicine at the University of Western States. He also works directly with individuals and groups including professional athletes and military as a nutritional therapist, and he is a well-known author, chef, and lecturer on the topics of nutrition and functional medicine in Denmark and around the world.

    Absolutely loved this series with Umahro.

    Learning that Danish special forces make their cadets go through 6 months of foundation work before attempting time-based WODs makes so much sense to me. I started Crossfit only 8 months ago and already suffered a minor shoulder injury that could have been avoided if I had restrained myself from “competing.” You touched on this in one of your episodes too: building a good foundation before going all out. Another A-Ha! moment for me while listening to your podcasts.

    In any case, the injury has taught me TONS about the human body and what I should and shouldn’t do. In a way, it has made me more accountable on how I train, eat, and even rest. It’s probably a blessing that I went through that early on. Listening to your podcasts and the info you put out there has been an important part of my journey towards recovery.

    We’re lucky these days to have access to a wealth of information on health and training but it’s extra special when the info has been curated by someone like you. Please keep sharing and caring!
